BatGuys Wildlife Update — October 11, 2006
September was a busy month for the BatGuys. Between trying to finish up several bat exclusion projects before the cold weather, squirrel season kicking off and a large project at a church we were being pulled in all directions.
Mass Bat Removal, Exclusion and Guano Removal
We traveled outside of our normal service area to North Central Massachusetts to complete a large bat control project at an old historic church. This was one of the largest bat colonies I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Look for more from this project in the upcoming months.
Boston Bat Removal
Two weeks ago we completed a bat control project at an older home in Boston. This attic was home to hundreds of bats for a number of years. The piles of bat guano in the attic were huge. Come with me for a video inspection of this attic. here.
Natick MA Bat Control Project
I conducted an inspection of a large Cape-style home in Natick last Friday. This attic was loaded with bats that were still very active. These bats were using six different areas of the roof and roof-line to gain access to the attic. Once in the attic I observed bats hanging in the gable vent as well as a large pile of bat guano around the base of the chimney. This job is currently scheduled for this week.
Boston Squirrel Removal
While performing a routine squirrel control service at a home in a Boston suburb I had a curious gray squirrel hanging around on the roof with me for quite some time. This squirrel had a lot of red-brown in it and was a very beautiful animal. Click here to see the video of this curious animal checking me out.
Watertown Squirrel Removal
We are starting to see the beginning of squirrel season. With the first cold nights of Fall we are getting calls about squirrels chewing their way into houses in an effort to stay warm. In the job featured above the customer called and told me that she had just started hearing a lot of noises in her attic that day and that she had never heard them before. This was because the squirrels had just chewed their way into her attic that day. You can see the fresh woodchips/splinters/sawdust on the ground below the damaged gable vent. Within two days we had her home squirrel-free and squirrel-proof.
