Bats
Bats are found throughout this area. The town of Berkley seems to have the largest population of bats in this area. The Taunton River basin in Berkley is where we see very large colonies of bats in homes each year. The low-lying river-bottom is rich with mosquitoes and provides these bats with an ample food source. In the warmer months these bats enter houses through rooflines and unsecured vents. Squirrels
Gray Squirrels
Gray Squirrels are found in abundance in Taunton, Norton and Raynham. These crafty critters chew their way into the older homes in the area and then create a nesting area. We get flooded with calls for gray squirrels in the spring and then again in the fall when the cold weather arrives. Flying Squirrels
The Norton/Mansfield area is absolutely LOADED with flying squirrels. I believe that this area has the largest population of these animals in this half of the state. I believe that the Rabies outbreak that tore through this area over the last 3 or 4 years it is to blame for the reduction of skunks. We still get a few calls for skunks in this area but nowhere near the volume that we had 4 years ago. Raccoons
Just like skunks the raccoon population of this area has also dwindled. We still get calls for them in the spring when the adult females are giving birth but we don't get calls for them year-round like we used to. Raynham seems to have a healthy raccoon population. The Pleasant St. area of Raynham has an unusually high number of these masked bandits as we did 6 different raccoon jobs in a one mile radius of this Street this spring.
